BTS’s ‘THE CITY Busan’ event concluded with a massive triumph across the coastal city of Busan, South Korea.
The festival, commemorating the group’s 13th anniversary, drew over 200,000 visitors according to Busan city officials.
On October 12th and 13th, BTS held their ‘Homecoming’ concert at Busan Asiad Main Stadium, electrifying approximately 110,000 fans.
Alongside the concert, ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG-BUSAN’ transformed key Busan locations into festival spaces, themed around BTS’s new track ‘Arirang.’ The event featured attractions like the ‘Love Song Lounge,’ a breathtaking drone light show, and the immersive ‘Port Village.’
Busan Station’s Welcome Center saw about 26,000 visitors from October 5th to 15th. The ‘Love Song Lounge,’ a hit in Seoul, replicated its success in Haeundae, drawing 100,000 visitors. Haeundae Beach showcased a colossal sand sculpture themed ‘Keep Swimming,’ complemented by BTS’s music.
The Bay 101’s ‘ARMY Square’ attracted around 28,000 visitors over four days from October 10th, offering various sponsor experiences. It served as a central hub for fans, with a BTS-themed yacht tour selling out all 700 seats.
The yacht tour’s highlight was a spectacular 1,000-drone show over Gwangandaegyo Bridge, mesmerizing 54,000 spectators. The aerial display brought to life messages from ‘Arirang’ tracks, including ‘Swim,’ creating an unforgettable experience.
Busan landmarks, including Gwangandaegyo Bridge and Nurimaru, were bathed in red light, creating a stunning visual spectacle day and night. This initiative boosted the local economy significantly, with souvenir shops in key areas seeing a 136% increase in average daily sales compared to last year. Busan Station, in particular, experienced a remarkable 316% surge in sales.
‘THE CITY Busan’ is set to become a blueprint for successfully integrating marine and tourism resources to foster local economic growth.
