A shocking tale unfolds about a woman who fell victim to a self-proclaimed billionaire she met on a dating app. Within just eight days of meeting, she filed for marriage and lost hundreds of millions of KRW.

The client, eager to tie the knot this year, connected with a man on a dating app recommended by a friend. He made quite an impression on their first date, arriving with financial newspapers and books, boasting about his celebrity connections from his alleged event company days, and claiming ownership of three prime Seoul properties. His smooth talk left the client thoroughly convinced.

But the facade quickly crumbled. From day two, he persistently asked for money, citing investment opportunities. Whenever she expressed doubt, he’d push for marriage and even orchestrated a call with his supposed mother to ease her concerns. The clincher? A screenshot of a bank balance showing a whopping 26.4 billion KRW (17.16 million USD), which obliterated any lingering suspicions.

Trusting him completely, the client handed over 25 million KRW (16,250 USD). Astonishingly, they filed for marriage just eight days after meeting. Post-nuptial agreement signed, she wired an additional 50 million KRW (32,500 USD). But as soon as they were legally hitched, the man’s true colors emerged with increasingly outrageous demands.

Realizing she’d been conned, the client sought help from detectives with barely a month left to file for annulment.
