BTS Stalking Case: What You Need to Know About Legal Consequences for Foreign Offenders
Agency: “Zero-tolerance policy applies equally to all, regardless of nationality”

A foreign national who repeatedly trespassed and stalked a BTS member at his residence has been handed a suspended prison sentence, reports MHN’s Kim So-young.
On June 29, Big Hit Music, the group’s management company, disclosed the court’s ruling via the fan community platform Weverse. The announcement was part of their “2026 Q2 Legal Action Report on Artist Rights Violations.”
The report revealed that the defendant, who had invaded the artist’s home and engaged in stalking behavior, was detained for approximately three months following the issuance of an arrest warrant. The court ultimately sentenced her to one year in prison, suspended for two years. The defendant, a Brazilian woman in her 30s, had been indicted for visiting BTS member Jungkook’s residence in Seoul’s Yongsan district over 20 times since last December. She was accused of ringing the doorbell and following delivery personnel into the house.
“Our zero-tolerance policy is applied consistently, regardless of the perpetrator’s nationality,” the agency emphasized. They further cautioned, “Foreign nationals convicted of trespassing and stalking may face deportation and potential entry bans to South Korea.” The company also stressed that loitering near residences or leaving unsolicited gifts constitutes a clear violation of the law, promising swift action including immediate police reports.
In a separate case, Big Hit Music reported that an online troll faced charges of defamation and spreading false information for repeatedly posting unfounded allegations about their artist. The individual received a suspended indictment contingent on completing educational programs. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing legal action against purveyors of fake news and malicious hate speech, vowing to hold them accountable regardless of their attempts at anonymity.
