Ms. A: Not a One-Sided Relationship; Distinct from Other Fans

In the latest development of the personal life controversy surrounding actor Hwang Jung-min, a woman identified as Ms. A has released new audio recordings to counter claims made by a long-time fan, Mr. B. The recordings aim to prove that her relationship with Hwang was more than just one-sided admiration.

On the 10th, Ms. A shared transcripts of a 2024 phone conversation with Hwang on her social media. In the recording, Hwang distinguishes his relationship with Ms. A from other fans, saying, "I don't engage with those other fans. But with you, we talk, chat, and even argue. It's a completely different dynamic."

Hwang also confided about feeling overwhelmed by fans' constant presence at his performances and expressed discomfort with fan interactions like photo-taking and letter-receiving.

Ms. A argues that these recordings refute allegations of her being just another overzealous fan. She emphasizes that Hwang initiated contact and clearly differentiated her from his general fanbase.

This comes after Mr. B, claiming to be Hwang's fan of 20 years, defended the actor online. Mr. B insisted, "Hwang is known for his kindness, even to casual fans. Long-time supporters understand this." He suggested that the current situation is being misrepresented by Ms. A.

The new audio also reveals that Hwang's wife had suspicions about his relationship with Ms. A. In one instance, after seeing their messages, Hwang's wife reportedly asked, "Who is this person?" Hwang later told Ms. A, "I don't know how to explain it. It's complicated."

Further recordings indicate Hwang's attempts to create distance. He's heard saying, "I shouldn't cross certain boundaries" and "We can't let this develop into something more significant."

Despite these statements, Hwang's conflicted feelings are evident. He tells Ms. A, "If we were actually dating, things might be different" and "You still have feelings for me, don't you?" He even suggests, "Maybe we should reconnect in 2025. You should see other people in the meantime."

Previously, Hwang's team accused Ms. A of stalking and harassment through repeated social media posts about his private life. This led to legal action, resulting in three restraining orders and a 3 million KRW (2,250 USD) fine for Ms. A. She has since appealed the ruling and filed a 200 million KRW (150,000 USD) lawsuit against Hwang for damages.
