Dancer Kinky (Kim Ki-hyun), best known as Gabi's close friend, is set to make his theatrical debut in a groundbreaking production.

At a recent press conference in Seoul's Jongno district, Kinky opened up about his decision to take on his first acting role in the play "Cruise."

"When I got the casting offer, I was still learning the ropes of acting, so I was terrified," Kinky admitted. "I almost turned it down, but then I thought, why not embrace this new challenge instead of running away?"

Drawing from his extensive dance background, Kinky exuded confidence about his upcoming performance. "This piece allows me to showcase a wide range of talents," he explained. "Ultimately, I'll be able to channel all my experience as a performer on stage into this role."

"Cruise" is a one-man show set in 1980s London's Soho district. The plot centers on Michael, an LGBTQ+ individual grappling with a terminal diagnosis, and Jack, a counselor who becomes the confidant for Michael's life story. The play delves into the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community, the heartbreak of losing loved ones, the journey of healing, and the power of human connection.

In a tour de force performance, Kinky will portray an astounding 30 characters, including the lead role of Michael. Theater-goers are eagerly anticipating how the versatile dancer will translate his stage presence and physicality into this demanding acting challenge.

Originally premiering in London in 2021, "Cruise" earned a nomination for Best New Play at the prestigious Olivier Awards. This Asian premiere features a fresh take on the original script and score, with reimagined staging, lighting, and costumes. Kinky will alternate performances with actor Han Min-woo, under the direction of Lee Nam-ki. The curtain rises on October 29 at Seoul's Theater Come in the Daehakro district.

Kinky has made a name for himself in the K-pop world, having choreographed for top girl groups like Aespa, I.O.I, Red Velvet, and STAYC. He recently showcased his comedic chops on Gabi's YouTube channel "Queen Gabi" and appeared on "Letters Between Us," where he gave fans a glimpse into his close friendship with the fellow dancer.
